The Schlossmann Auto Story

Let’s go back in time. The year: 1967. The place: Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The who: Bob Schlossmann. Can you picture it?

Leading up to this time, Bob had been working as a used car salesman, selling brands like DeSoto and Rambler at Hartung Rambler, which later changed to Ford. He went from salesman to sales manager to general manager. When Mr. Hartung closed up and moved to Florida, Bob opened a used car lot on 3rd Street and Locust, right behind the 5th district police department. It was also during the 60s that he became part of the Chrysler Corporation when a Dodge dealership became available in the area. He jumped at the chance to have his own store. Bob and his team worked hard to achieve the success he knew they could. Any one who knew him knew he was the ultimate salesperson. Legend has it that one day he talked someone from out on the street into coming in and buying a car right there on the spot! Soon, Dodge City went from a small dealership to the largest Dodge dealership in the state.

After seeing great accomplishments at Dodge City, Bob expanded Schlossmann Auto, and was joined by his two sons, Brad and Mike. The brand has since grown to include 7 automotive franchises and 2 motorcycle brands at 4 locations.

Known as “The Good Guys in the White Hats,” there wasn’t anything Bob wouldn’t do for a customer. He always treated them like family, and we still do today. Brad remembers that his father always said “we’re not in the car business, we’re in the people business.” This is evident even now, as our dealerships give back to the community in various ways, such as hosting holiday drives, sponsoring local sports teams, and participating in national causes like No Shave November.

If you haven’t already, we hope you join the Schlossmann Auto family. And for those of you that have, thank you! We appreciate your continued support and hope to keep see you again soon.
